What You Can Learn From Product Management in Startups:
From Product Management to Adaptive Design

Over the past few years, the art of product management has been evolving quickly in the startup ecosystem due to rapid changes in their technology, competitive and customer environments. The core trends shaping a startup’s understanding of business and the best way to build and manage our products are:
1. From Products to Participation: Healthy, vital and active relationships are the only sustainable competitive advantage.
2. Software Eats The World: Every aspect of our economy and society is shaped by the rules and economics of software.
3. Product Management + Industrial Design = Adaptive Design: Design thinking and adaptive process are the heart of startup product management.

The new practice of product management is changing along eight dimensions (Architecture, Metrics, Process, Goals, Tools, Planning, Quality, and Design) and there are three dimensions that remain relatively stable (Management, Strategy, Role). In this talk we will be looking at a practical map of the new product management landscape to understand what has been changing, what has not been changing, and where we are headed in how businesses understand and manage their offerings.
