Description: A demanding role, like Product Management, could greatly benefit from building partnerships within the organization.

Creating productive working relationships with Project Managers is a way of improving one’s effectiveness.

Details

Surveys have shown that fire fighting, dealing with implementation details, and endless data collection efforts all have detrimental effects on Product Managers’ ability to focus on the strategic aspects of their job.

Collaborating with a Project Manager can offload some of the burden in a new product development effort. However, making this relationship work is a challenge, since there are numerous variables that come into play: organizational structures, HR policies, misaligned incentives, conflicting objectives, behavioural issues, or just plain organizational culture.

This month we will explore, with our expert panel’s help, the building blocks of creating a productive working relationship with Project Managers.
